Case Studies - Examples of video production and multimedia for government and corporate clients

PROMOTIONAL DVD TO RAISE SPONSORSHIP

Connectus is a Victorian Government initiative which helps young people who are unemployed or not doing well in school.

Kestrel was commissioned to produce an inspiring promotional DVD to help raise industry sponsorship for the program.

Filmed over two months, it features interviews and other elements which clearly demonstrate the skills we’ve developed during a long history of documentary production.

CORPORATE PROFILE

Kestrel has produced a wide range of high-quality corporate image videos.

One example is a multi-purpose DVD for Bayer Australia. Produced in conjunction with the agency H&T Advertising and filmed by Kestrel in several states, it features employees and customers to highlight Bayer’s many innovative services and products.

The DVD also adopts a ‘case study’ approach which enables efficient and cost-effective updating when required.

INSTRUCTIONAL DVD AND WEB VIDEO

With water use becoming an increasingly critical issue, a DVD for the savewater! Alliance has recently been produced. This alliance works with member water businesses, government agencies and product companies to deliver water conservation programs throughout Australia.

Presented by high-profile environmentalist Rob Gell, the DVD provides a series of easy to follow instructions about how to save water around the home.

Although produced on a tight budget and shot in just one day, the widely distributed DVD has a style and quality which, according to our client, far surpassed their expectations.

VIDEO OPENER FOR CONFERENCES AND EVENTS

Part of the multinational Sims Group, Simsmetal New South Wales engaged Kestrel to produce a dynamic video opener for conferences and events.

Using just half a day of filming, combined with photographs supplied by the client, we created an eye-catching overview of their metal recycling services.

To widen the video’s potential use, we suggested that the opener be followed by a silent montage of images which provides background for a live speaker’s presentation.

AWARDS CEREMONY AND VIDEO NEWS RELEASES

Kestrel has produced four annual presentations for the prestigious Victoria Prize for Science.

Each year’s requirements include seven high-quality video profiles of the winners, stylish graphic screens and Video News Releases.

These productions demonstrate our ability to communicate complex scientific information in a clear and stimulating manner - an ability honed through many similar science-related projects over the last ten years (such as the Prime Minister’s Prize and the Clunies Ross Awards).

TRAINING IN SAFETY

Kestrel has produced an award-winning and innovative series of training DVDs for the Master Builders Association of Victoria.

They focus on a range of important safety issues, and are aimed at both employers and employees in the construction industry.

Users have praised the fact that the DVDs reflect the realities of the Australian worksite far better than other programs that are currently available.

And their interactive format makes them extremely versatile, either for individual users or in a group training environment.

DVD TO INFORM AND INFLUENCE THE TARGET AUDIENCE

One of our most widely distributed productions, Connecting With Computers aimed to inspire older people to learn basic computer skills. Apart from television screenings, the Federal Department of Education, Science and Training has distributed over 23,000 copies to date!

We devised a colourful television studio format, with the presenters also out on location. The lively style made for a fun viewing experience which clearly struck a chord with the target audience - Australia wide.

INFORMATIONAL VIDEO FILMED IN MULTIPLE LOCATIONS

For nearly 12 years, Kestrel has produced a series of videos and DVDs aimed at livestock producers. The videos inform them about Victoria’s world-leading electronic tagging system for cattle, which ensures food safety and traceability.

As well as being distributed to thousands of Australian farmers, the DVDs have been produced in a range of languages to promote Australian produce overseas.

Filming in rural or remote locations doesn’t have to mean high budgets - using an extensive network of professional local crews, we can shoot anywhere in Australia while keeping costs down.

SHOWCASING FINALISTS FOR AWARDS AND RECORDING THE EVENT

The federal government’s Department of Education, Science and Training presented Kestrel with a huge task – produce over fifty video segments showcasing finalists in the Australian Training Awards.

We used still photographs and motion graphics in a visually exciting format to achieve this in the tight timeframe available.

Other elements included background imagery to accompany the National Anthem, a video opener, graphic screens, eleven different Video News Releases, and a DVD record of the event.

We took a welcome break the day after!

INTERACTIVE CD-ROM

Having already produced one award-winning interactive program for VicRoads, Kestrel was recently commissioned to create another to outline the organisation’s ‘Safe System’ approach to road safety.

This approach draws together the key strands of road safety philosophy – Safer Roads, Safer Speeds and Safer Vehicles.

With around 15 minutes of case study video segments, plus a variety of animations and graphics, it’s now a vital part of VicRoads’ strategy to communicate with decision makers throughout the road safety community.

PROMOTIONAL VIDEO

Kestrel’s efficient and cost-effective approach to production means we can deliver high-quality results for small companies – without blowing budgets!

One example is a promotional video for manufacturers Techni Automation, about a machine which cuts steel – with water!

Using clean, effective photography and graphics, we created a highly successful marketing tool on a low budget.

CORPORATE OVERVIEW

When housing industry giant AVJennings needed a quality corporate video produced within a precise budget they chose Kestrel.

Using stylish graphics and animation, combined with footage of the company’s head office and housing estates around Australia, we created a dynamic corporate image presentation.

Corporate videos can be incorporated into a wide range of media such as interactive DVDs and CDs, websites and speaker presentations. Used in this way, they represent great value for money.
